SteamID's Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which SteamID collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a "User") of the SteamID's website ("Site","SteamID","SteamID API"). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by SteamID.

SteamID access to SteamCommunity Data

SteamID collects information via the public SteamAPI which allows services such as SteamID to collect data. The User that has generated this content has agreed its use under the Steam Subscriber agreement. This Privacy policy has been written to conform with the SteamAPI policy
SteamID does not have access or collect your personal SteamCommunity data

What is the data we collect used for?

The data that we collect about profiles is used to draw statistics and provide a look up service which aids in spotting scammers , cheaters and finding old friends
This service includes but not limited to displaying Friends list , Old friends , Previous avatars , Game stats and more

We may collect personal identification that is voluntary given to SteamID from Users once signed into

We may display profile information from the steam community website and via your account(s) which may include "real name" , "Country" and Gaming Avatar Icon
The player / gamer name is recorded however the real name "realname" field passed though on the SteamAPI is not stored in a database but displayed from a live Steam API feed... More below

SteamCommunity Data

SteamID also has no access to personal information held on steam servers only the public Steam API, SteamID Does not store personal information that maybe collected from the Steam API
SteamID Understands common requests surrounding the Real Name field "realname" on the SteamAPI and the Gaming avatar field "avatarIcon" which are available from Steam via the community API

Real Name The real name field is pulled though from the Steam platform live, You can change your Real Name on the steam gaming platform to prevent this and other API based websites from displaying your Real Name. This will change on a SteamID HTML Re-Cache (Usually less than 12 hours).

Gaming avatar
If you have used a photo if yourself as your gaming avatar then you can use SteamID to provide you the link to the steam CDN servers which is where this data is stored.
Once logged in you can click a button on your profile to obtain the URL which needs to be removed. (SteamID may proxy SteamCommunity avatars although they are not stored)
As soon as this image is removed from the Steam CDN servers this will also be removed from SteamID (other API sites may store this image, SteamID does not).

When visiting this website, Your IP address maybe logged. This is for the purpose of detecting and preventing fraud and maintaining security of the SteamID network.

Where do you store my data?
The data is stored electronically within the main database server in a secure data center.
This data maybe pulled securely from the database within the SteamID network to another SteamID server to send out emails.

Removal of personal data

If you have chosen to enter your Name and Email address on the My Profile page, you can remove this if you wish, the data is not locked & not kept in an audit table, Once it's removed its gone.
Personal information can also be removed from the GDPR Manager which will always be updated if any new personal infomation fields are introduced in the future.

We understand that some users have entered thier FULL name as thier gamer name, which may allow them to become personaly identifiable. If you have used your full personal name as your non-personal online persona you can request deletion from the data manager In some instances where it is suspected that the request has not been made by the original account holder, futher verification maybe required.
Data can only be requsted on your own profile and not a profile that is not owned by you.


The SteamID API requires that you link back to SteamID where the use of the SteamID API is being used, Failure to do this could result in your SteamID API use to be suspended.
You must ensure that your application that uses the SteamID API wont harm the SteamID API Service & Servers, Any automated method in accessing the SteamID API should have adequate measures in place to prevent abuse / spamming before making requests.
All API requests are logged to produce analytics of this service, Abuse of the API is also flagged so please use fairly.
SteamID Reserves the right to Change the SteamID API and suspend any API access without warning.

Non-Personal identification information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.
